Our wildlife…….

We are really lucky to have an abundance of wildlife on our doorstep and literally in our garden that our guests are welcome to explore – we have 14 hens, 8 ducks and 2 cats.

We regularly see deer in the field we overlook but we do not encourage them in our garden as they do so much damage.  We do have pine martins, red squirrels and foxes visiting, mostly during the night.  Herons often visit our pond which has both rainbow and brown trout and hopefully still some koi carp (not seen lately!).  Above us we see red kite and hawks hunting.  Our bird feeder is inundated with gold finches and green finches, siskins and blue tits, plus ground feeders, robins, blackbirds, the odd thrush and jays.  During the night we hear owls and see bats.

I was very lucky one day to see a king fisher on our pond and during the seasons we have frog spawn, tadpoles and then frogs.  Dragon and damsel flies, swallows swoop over the pond catching flies and a heron comes to fish.

Guest information…….

The bedrooms we offer are spacious, tastefully decorated, thoughtfully furnished and equipped using our knowledge as hoteliers.

We are purely a bed and breakfast so do not offer cooking/eating facilities to our guests. We do expect our guests to go out to eat and not bring food back to their rooms and we are very happy to make a reservation at a local pub/restaurant for you. We are however happy to heat up milk for an infant if required.

We also have two cats – these are not allowed upstairs in the guest bedrooms under normal circumstances but guests do encourage them sometimes and Sam does follow me around when guests arrive as he is very nosy and does like meeting new people. I always tell guests to throw him out if he is a nuisance!
